Last weekend, I made a trip up to Blue Ridge to go apple picking with my friend. My family and I have been going to Mercier Orchards for years, and it's definitely our favorite. In the fall, they have great orchards for apple picking, and strawberry & blueberry fields in the Summer seasons. If you're ever in the area, definitely pick some apples for yourself and a few items from their store. All the apples I picked were fresh & delicious! I recommend the apple cider donuts, apple cider, apple fritters, & peanut brittle if you stop by the store.
The farm itself is absolutely gorgeous! After you finish apple picking, take time to hike & explore the rest of the land. I can assure you will not be disappointed with the fall foliage & scenery. If you get lucky, you might even get to see some ducks & geese (which happen to be very friendly).
Aside from Mercier Orchards, Blue Ridge is a day trip on its own. Blue Ridge has many unique attractions, shops, & restaurants. If you go in the Summer time, you can also go tubing or white water rafting. Blue Ridge is also a great place to get a cabin. Juliana's, one of my favorite boutiques, happens to have a location in Blue Ridge. Southern Charm has some of the best fried chicken & sweet tea. I also recommend the Sweet Shop for amazing cupcakes.
Sadly, the wait for lunch at Southern Charm was too long, so I settled on gluten free Margherita pizza. It definitely didn't compare to Southern Charm, but it was really good! Also, I got a little too excited when I found a moose topiary (moose are one of my favorite animals). We had a great day trip!
