Camel Cords

button down: Vineyard Vines // vest: Vineyard Vines // cords: Vineyard Vines // boots: Tory Burch // watch: Kate Spade

I've gotten a lot of questions on how to style camel pants lately, so here ya go! Let me know if you want more way to style this color of pants, and I will be sure to do some more outfit posts featuring my camel cords. As a general rule of thumb they, camel looks good with navy, creme, olive, black, grey, rose quartz, oxford blue, and really any earthy neutral shade.

This olive vest from Vineyard Vines has been my obsession for the past few months, so I am not sure why it's just now making an appearance on the blog. However, I have worn it in a lot of videos, so you may recognize it. Sadly, this vest sold out quickly at Vineyard Vines, but I did link other olive green vests, which are great alternatives. For me, this was the perfect olive vest with the suede quilting and gold hardware.

I also got this grey flannel from VV to wear with my vest, and I love it! I really didn't realize how much wear I would get out of a grey flannel. It is also sold out, but I have linked a very similar flannel.

Head over to my friend Lucy's blog, Daily Dose of Prep, to see how she styles camel pants!

I love Lucy and her blog, so if you're not following her there and on Instagram (@dailydoseof_prep), do it, and tell her I sent you. ;) Looking forward to seeing you on my next post!

Southern Proper Women's Spring '16

Fun fact: I am low-key obsessed with my golden retriever

button down: J. Crew // skort: Southern Proper c/o (use code xcgal98 for 15% off) // sandals: Jack Rogers via CCP c/o (email me at xcgal98@gmail.com for a 20% off code) // sunglasses: J. Crew // watch: Kate Spade

Southern Proper just launched their women's spring line today!! Y'all, I love it! SoPro has really outdone themselves and I can not wait to do more posts styling other pieces from the line. Check out the unboxing video I posted yesterday featuring other pieces I got from the spring line. I have repped for SoPro for a year and a half now. If you'd like 15% off your purchase, use code xcgal98 at checkout.

To say I am obsessed with this skort would be an understatement. I'll let you in on a secret, I am actually wearing shorts; it just looks like a skirt. Skorts are a life-saver, especially for golfing and morning brunches. When I saw this in the catalog, I had no idea that I would love this as much as I do. There's two other colors and I may have to purchase them.

The top I'm wearing is one of J. Crew's seersucker gingham button-downs. I have three and I love them; 10/10 would recommend. They are so comfortable, light weight, and perfect for warm weather. My sandals are the classic Jack Rogers in platinum, highly recommend investing if you have not already. I purchase all of my Jacks from Country Club Prep; email me for free shipping and 20% off (xcgal98@gmail.com).

I had so much fun shooting this post, hope you enjoy! Tweet me or tag me in photos (@dariasmithyt) if you purchase anything from SoPro's spring line.

Sunday Shopping 2.21.16 // J. Crew Spring '16

J. Crew just released their Spring '16 catalog and killed it. Stripes + Bright Stuff, what more could you ask of J. Crew? I am really loving the overall theme of the whole catalog, very well-done. This definitely inspired me to start planning my getaway plan

New Arrivals

J. Crew

Sandals: 1 . 2 . 3 // Accessories 1 . 2 . 3

Country Club Prep had some great new arrivals this week! I was unfamiliar with The Mallard until this week when CCP added their line of sandals to the site. I am very impressed with the cute styles, and they look to be high quality. I'm sure you're familiar with KJP, and loving his new accessory line. PSA: CCP just restocked YETI rambler tumblers, so get them while you can!! If you would like a code for 20% off your purchase to CCP, email me at xcgal98@gmail.com.

I love doing these posts! Let me know what's on your shopping list.

DIY: Acai Bowls

Recently, I have gotten really into making acai smoothie bowls. The acai berry is filled with antioxidants and offers many health benefits. Each of these bowls require the use of frozen acai packets; I like to use Sambazon frozen acai packs. You can tweak these smoothie bowls and get creative. As to what you blend and top your bowls with is entirely up to you.

Blend // 2 frozen acai packs, 1/2 c coconut water, 1 banana

Toppings // granola, coconut, chia seeds, strawberries, bananas

Blend // 2 frozen acai packs, 1 banana, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 3/4 c milk, 1 tbsp chia seeds

Toppings // granola, coconut, strawberries, honey

Blend // 2 frozen acai packs, 1/2 c coconut water, handfuls of spinach, 1/2 c frozen mangoes, 1/2 c frozen pineapples

Toppings // strawberries, coconut, granola, chia seeds

Explore With Me // Indian Seats

For those of you who don't know, I am an avid explorer. Nothing makes me happier than being outside. I've mentioned it briefly in videos and posts before, but I don't think I've ever brought you guys on one of my adventures. I had originally planned to film an "Explore With Me" video about my hike, but I think I am waiting until I get a GoPro for that.

Indian Seats

Today, I hiked up the Sawnee Mountain Preserve in Cumming, Georgia, otherwise known as Indian Seats. The view was gorgeous, and so worth the hike!! I recommend bringing a camera to best capture the amazing view, you can easily see the Blue Ridge mountains. Plan time to sit on the mountain to take it all in. On a day with a clear sky, you can easily see far-off landmarks and distinctly see all the cars traveling on the countryside. To get to the top of the mountain, it is a 3.2 mile loop. This destination can be hard to find if you don't have a good address; I used: 4075 Spot Rd, Cumming, GA 30040. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by.

Blessed are the curious for they shall have adventures

Dutch Monkey Dougnhnuts

How cute is this doughnut shop?! I had recalled reading about this doughnut shop in an article about Georgia's best donut shops and had to stop by when I realized how close we were; it's about 15 minutes from Indian Seats. If you're looking for other things to do in the area, The Collection at Forsyth is right across the street. The Collection is a small shopping center with some great stores including American Threads, Dress Up Boutique, and Altar'd State.

Let me know what you guys think of these posts! I plan to start doing them more often. Also, if you've ever done any hiking in Georgia, let me know your favorite trails and places I should check out.

Everything You Need to Know About Bean Boots

If I had to live with only one pair of shoes for  fall and winter, it would be bean boots!! These shoes are good through snow or rain, and keep your feet warm in the coldest temperatures when layered with camp socks. If you get any mud or dirt on these shoes, it simply wipes right off. I have worn these through mud puddles, creeks, you name it, and they still look awesome. As I said clean-up takes under five minutes. These shoes are made to last a lifetime and L. L. Bean has a lifetime warranty, so these shoes really will last forever.

Length

L L. Bean makes two popular lengths: the six inch and eight inch. If you're 5'4 or shorter, I would get the six inch, and eight inch if you're taller than 5'4. Personally, I find the six inch to be comfier than the eight inch because of where they hit the leg. The only other reason to consider the eight inch is if you live in a really snowy climate (two inches can really make a difference) in which case you may also want to consider getting thinsulate or gortex lined bean boots. If you get a ton of snow, Bean also makes a ten inch length.

Color

L. L. Bean's two most popular colors of bean boots are the brown and navy. Normally, I would go for navy, as it's my favorite color, but do not! I almost got navy and am so glad that I got the brown because they match so much more. Get the brown. If you want to get the navy don't let me stop to you, this is just my opinion and recommendation from my experiences.

Sizing

Sizing on bean boots can be very tricky. If you're familiar with bean boots, then you know L. L. Bean only makes whole sizes. If you are going to be wearing bean boots with thicker socks (i.e. camp socks), then order your normal size; order a size down if you're a half size. I am a 7.5, so I wear a 7 in bean boots. The Bean site recommends ordering a whole size down (even if you wear a whole size) if you plan on wearing bean boots with thinner socks (i.e. J. Crew trouser socks). However, I do not recommend this, as these shoes are best with thick socks! I recommend that you order your normal size and a size down if you're a half size. Also, if you are smaller than a 6, L. L. Bean does make kids sizes in bean boots!

Camp Socks

As soon as you order your bean boots, buy camp socks! I am a fan of J. Crew and L. L. Bean's camp socks. These are a thick, marled knitted sock that keep your bean boots extra warm. Not only do they complete the look, but they also prohibit blisters. I have heard some women wear size 9+, and the camp socks are too small. If you have have this problem, know that L. L. Bean makes their camp socks in sizes and try mens camp socks (there's no difference except they're bigger).

Backorder

Bean boots are almost always on backorder. What did you expect? L. L. Bean makes these shoes by hand at their factories in Maine. The company refuses to go overseas and mass produce because they want to stick to their roots and keep up the good quality. L. L. Bean is making as many pairs of boots now as they ever have, so the demand for bean boots will cause backorder.

If you're contemplating, bean boots are absolutely and 100% worth the wait for the real thing. Do not go to a boutique and buy $30 knock-offs as the quality is not there and they will not make it through the snow. If you absolutely can not wait, Sperry makes a saltwater boot, which is the next best thing. These are available on Country Club Prep (email me for a 20% code at xcgal98@gmail.com). As these are also selling out, check out the Sporto duck boots

Styling

I made a whole YouTube video styling bean boots and there are other blog posts styling bean boots linked in that video along with the outfit details from these photos.

Savannah, GA + Tybee Island

This past weekend, I traveled to Savannah, Georgia and Tybee Island. I had to go to Statesboro to tour Georgia Southern University, so we decided to make a weekend trip out of the event. Also, almost all photos in this post were taken on my iPhone!

Wormsloe Historic Site // How gorgeous are these live oaks?! I have seen the Wormsloe historic site all over post cards & tourist brochures in Savannah and have always wanted to see this lovely site in person. If you're ever in Savannah, you must go! Watch the video to really see the beauty. I drove the jeep (his name is Rebel #hottytoddy) down to Savannah and am so glad I did as it makes driving on gravel & mud so much easier. You really can travel anywhere with Jeep.

Mother and Sons Restaurant // This restaurant is owned by Paula Dean and it's awesome! I was expecting the food to be overpriced, but it was really quite reasonable and delicious to say the least. The first dish shown is a crab sandwich and the second is scallops (highly recommend both). You'll soon notice a trend (I LOVE crab meat).

Broughton Street // This is THE street for shopping in Savannah; they have everything. Upon planning what to do in Savannah, I didn't even know this street existed because I really wasn't looking to shop. I am really glad that I happened to stumble upon it. Broughton Street has a Lilly store, Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, J. Crew, Threads, Southern shops (think Barbour, Patagonia, Southern Proper, etc.), Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, and much more. My red cowboys boots are by Ariat and I love them!! I wear them as much as my brown cowboy boots as I find red goes with almost everything.

Georgia Southern // The initial reason I went on this excursion was to tour Georgia Southern, and to my surprise I fell in love!! I never would have applied to this school unless my friend hadn't recommended GSU after he toured. Statesboro is in the middle of nowhere, which is one of the things I wanted for college. I've grown up in the suburbs of Atlanta, but my father grew up on a farm in Illinois. Whenever my family and I go home to visit Illinois, I do really enjoy the small town feel. GSU has awesome programs for PR and fashion merchandising, football, and greek life, which is exactly what I want. I also adored Savannah and Tybee Island which are an hour from Southern. Fun Fact: Luke Bryan graduated from GSU.

I have been set on Ole Miss for the past few years, but GSU is the next best thing as they're very similar. Ironically, I talked to a sales associate at Kate Spade who majored in fashion merchandising and she was set to go to Ole Miss but decided on GSU last minute because it was closer to home and loved it. I think this was God giving me the sign that I am going to be happy wherever I end up. For anyone else stressed with college, just trust the process and know that everything happens for a reason; let go and let God.

Tybee Island // There's not a whole not to do in Tybee besides eat and relax on the beach, but Savannah is half an hour away. Sadly, it started raining right when I went to the beach, but I did get this cool photo from Rebel's window.

The Crab Shack // The dish shown above is deviled crab. Yes, I did eat crab two days in a row (it's my favorite), and I was at the crab shack. I highly recommend dining here if you're in Tybee. I always check ratings on FourSquare, Yelp, and TripAdvisor before dining or doing anything no matter where I am. This life is beautiful and I always try to get the most out of it by experiencing the best things life has to offer. I can do a whole series on travel and trip planning if you enjoyed this, just let me know. ;)

Have you ever been to Savannah, Georgia or Tybee Island? If so, let me know what I should do next time I am in the area!
