Boy Crazy or Jesus Crazy?

Recently, I have been extremely boy crazy. Honestly, I don't know if it's ever been this bad. I just really like cute boys and get excited about them, especially if they love Jesus and camo crocs (you get this is you know me personally). It wasn't even this bad when I first got to college and went through a phase where I was constantly talking to a new boy when the previous fling ended. I think it's just something that happens when you get out of a relationship. This is still my first ball game when it comes to relationships and love, so I'm still getting the hang of this thing. This is something I've really been praying on lately, that god would occupy my thoughts more than boys. When I crush on someone, I tend to think about them a lot and have trouble filtering them out of my head.

Then, finally, last night at YoungLife leadership, I had one of those Jesus moments. It finally hit me and God pointed out that I need to pursue him like I've been pursuing boys. The same thing applies when you make a new best friend- ya know when you meet someone and y'all just click? That's what I mean. I get so excited about these new friendships or when I first start talking to a boy, sometimes I lose sight of the most important relationship with our almighty god. Look at it this way, you need to be "Jesus crazy" instead of "boy crazy." Pursue your relationship with the lord and God's love; abide in nothing else except his perfect love. To abide means to accept or act in accordance with a rule, decision, or recommendation; to obey, follow, or observe. 

The lord satisfies us under any circumstance, for eternity. If you're looking for happiness or satisfaction in anything other than him, you'll be search for eternity. You can keep searching or stop right now and accept him as your savior and receive eternal life. Eternal life or eternal searching? I would 10/10 rather have/recommend eternal life. God isn't going to play games with you, ghost you, emotionally abuse you, not give you enough attention, nor treat you negatively like a boy might in a relationship gone south. Our God is an authentic and loving father, he's straight up and will tell ya what you need to hear simply, without beating around the bush. God is going to satisfy you immensely more than any boy or relationship ever could. You are so flawed, but so worthy of his love. We are all broken sinners, but we are made whole in him. It's no longer us, but the holy spirit living within us. God appreciates every little detail about you, he knows the number of hairs on your very head. In his eyes, you were made beautifully and have no flaws; he made you as you are for a reason and to fulfill your purpose, following his perfect plan for you. Anyone who truly abides in the lord lives authentically and loves others well.

Note that you must abide in the lord before you can bear fruit. In order to find your purpose and follow the lord's plan for your life, you must rest in him and find joy in his presence. We can not simply get the fruit and outcomes we want; we must trust in him first!! If I got as excited about making disciples as I do when I see a dog, God could use me for so much more. I really need to draw my focus where it truly matters. For this reference, dogs are my favorite thing on this planet in case you were unaware. Sin and idols are like mosquito bites. In the course of sin and when a mosquito is biting you, you are unaware of the itching pain that will come later; you do not notice in the moment. The more you pick at sin and your mosquito bites, the worse they get. Pick at a mosquito bite long enough, and it will bleed. Live in sin long enough, and it will eventually kill you.

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." - Philippians 4:11-12

Are you boy crazy or Jesus crazy? Is your heart on fire for the lord and are you resting in his presence? I love y'all (but not as much as Jesus does)! I share what I am struggling with and try to be as vulnerable and authentic as possible. It doesn't scare or embarrass me to share my struggles becuase I know it can help someone who is going through or has gone through the same thing. Being authentic and vulnerable really shines Jesus's light and leads other towards his love.
